Any SF protected games ive had, ive made a DPM and mounted with daemon tools and.

BUT

I had to rename the bus names on the daemon installer to something other than the default.

Then with DT running I right click the icon on the taskbar and goto the first drive then drive properties, at the top is 3 headings which I change to other entries. Enable all emulation (Including RPMS).

Then I mount the image, close daemon tools (keeping emulation running), Run Starforcenightmare disabling channel 2 and node (Since I have sata I disabled ATA also - not wise if you have IDE HD's), install the game (works best with SATA drives).

It then works with any SF games, also any other protected game.

Have you tried this with the latest version of StarForce? I always thought that Daemon Tools was blacklisted.

Getting it to work

Ok I dont have Raid or any other special things on my pc. I bought the game and I saw this post about how to make it work without the cd. This is what I did (this is considering you have 100% store bought Splinter Cell 3 game) I downloaded the starfuct program at www.project-starfuct.tk ( the "t" in starfukt.tk address is a "k" ....and all i clicked is disable cd drive. then after that I mounted the image on my Dameon tools drive and then I clicked the icon on my desktop. I started the game. Asked me for the cd key, I entered it, it took about 3-4 minutes to scan the disk that was on Dameon and then it worked. After that it never did that again. Of corse this will not work with pirated copies. I think that is bull **** and should not ever be done. They finaly got smart and made the CDKey's unique to the cd. so trying to pirate this game is usless. But if you have a 100% store bought game please try this if you hate switching cd's.... Note to all worried users. The starfuct program only dissables what you click for the currently loaded windows. when you reload windows (restart or shutdown) it is the same as it always is. So if you make a mistake and lock up your pc its not a problem just restart it and dont do what you did before again

StarForce 3 is being worked on for Daemon Tools v4. Hopefully we'll see a new release soon! Also Daemon Tools Pro 1.0 also looks to try and tackle this mess. Patience I guess?

I used data position measurement High Do not skip read errors data position measurment read speed 1x. I havnt burned the image. I dont ahve a DVD burner. I store all my game images on a seperate drive and then I just mount them when I need too. Also Rip the DVD you will have to figure out what the protection is on the DVD so that it can successfully rip it. There is many tools out there to help you find that out. I hope that was helpfull

OK, this is really starting to piss me off. Folks, if you're going to write a detailed explanation, DON'T DON'T USE ABREVIATIONS.... How the hell do we know what DPM means???

The very first rule of writing anything (espacially a step by step manual) is to assume that the reader (no matter who he or she is) knows NOTHING. And I mean NOTHING AT ALL.
If I am talking about missiles and I throw the abbreviation SARH you guys have no clue what this is unless you know something about missiles. but if I place the abbreviation and then add (Semi active Radar Homing) you instantly can identify with it. Not everyone here knows what the hell your abbreviations are so PLEASE PLEASE explain in detail. Never assume we're smart enough to decipher it. After all, this is what we're trying to avoid.

Excuse me but you're always expected to know, at least, something about the backgrounds of the topic being talked about. If you don't, you're on the wrong forum! How would you expect someone to explain how Starforce works, even at a very high level, if you know absolutely nothing about PC hardware?

By the way, to overcome the copy protection, you don't need to understand how the copy protection - or, for that matter, the software that defeats it - works. Run it and it will work. Oh, it doesn't? So what, you haven't paid for it so don't expect anyone to explain it in every detail for you free of charge. Instead, perhaps, you might wanna buy some books and learn yourself; or pay someone to explain it to you. Whining around because of the lack of "proper" help on a free forum won't get you anywhere (other than the "ban bin")...

First of all... Wether I've paid for it or not is not in question. It may be to you but not to me and it has nothing to do with what I posted. Secondly, it SEEMS that have never written a College or University paper or essay. Had you done this you would know that any prof would reject that set of step by step instructions based on the mere fact that it doesen't explain everything fully. it's a basic rule of writing and it's not my fault you don't have the brain power to fathom this concept, nor is it my problem.
Oh and by the way, this forum IS WHERE PEOPLE LEARN FOR THEMSELVES. you didn't learn what the hell DPM was until someone told you right??? Oh wait, let me guess, you PAID someone to tell you what it is. That's right I forgot, you pay for everything. You're the saint here who does everything legit. That's why you're The LONGEST POSTING MEMBER. I'm sorry, I forgot to bow.

Just like it is not our fault you dont have the brain power to search the net to find out what the ABREVIATIONS mean! Nor is it our problem you have a problem!!
If you are indeed a uni (UNIVERSITY) student you would have learnt to research research research!!!

akula203, as I wrote, buy some books and learn yourself. This forum is NOT a university. By the way, even at a university, you're not explained everything in every detail all the time... You're not a baby to be spoon-fed, are you? If so, again, you're on the wrong forum. (Ohhh, as for my education, you're thoroughly wrong. You shouldn't have come up with that and especially not basing it on assumptions...)

Instead of whining about it, you could have done this..

Code:
Sorry guys but can someone explain what DPM is please, thanks :)

Not that difficult huh, and it would have not made you look like a pain in the arse like you have done over something so trivial.
