PSX Games not booting with S-Box (Neo Key)

Have just installed my usb mod and plays all originals PSX/PS2/DVD. It also plays all my PS2 backups including DVD rips.
The only thing it wont play is my PSX backups. I know they work cause I have a modded PSX and they work fine. Some go to black logo screen and some dont even get that far.
Any ideas

I use the original neo key and it works fine.
I hope your problem is not common, as I've just ordered 5 S-Box's for my mates!!!

Have you managed to rip Spyhunter (UK PAL) ok ??

spy hunter

Yeah, I ripped it before I installed the wire for the s box so I didnt know if it was going to work, but it loaded first time and plays fine.
I used Bigplutters PAL tutorial from here:

It does work

the method for getting psx backups to work is different than ps2 games. I've found that the most reliable way is to power up with the game in the system, and turn on the chip right away. no game shark involved. try turning off the chip once the psx logo comes up, and if that doesn't work leave it on until the game fully loads up. If all else fails, use the psx disc that came with your gameshark, and boot it just like a ps2 game.
