Yeah, I remember that one - good point
 I think you're right Warlock, because it goes to boot, and goes black - it all passes through OK,makes the right beeps and spins and then just quits, flashes 'No Data' and RSOD. Anyway, i'll try my mates laser over the weekend and see what happens

could also be the chip they seem to be more buggy than the standerd duo does it read oraginal ps1/ps2 cd games fast or hang for a bit

It'll boot the PS1 / PS2 Original CD fine - but it does tend to hang for a few seconds and go - which makes me think laser... But we'll see I suppose when I borrow my mates 400R.

Hmm - I've had a bit of a fiddle and I've gotten PS1 backups to boot intermittently. I think it's definately a laser problem
