i get this problem as well

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 2094 MHz [559385411584.000000 0] with 1023MB RAM
Video: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT (6172)

General protection fault!

Yours is a fault from the game engine itself, it doesnt wont to start up, which could mean faulty .ut files.

Unreal Engine games were bad for this.
