-I'm not sur eif your IP stays after you disconnect from the modem. So, after you plug into the xbox, open cmd prompt and do an "ipconfig". The see if there is an IP there. If not, you will have to assign it yourself.
-Avalaunch and evox both support FTP, so you can use either. You need to make it static in them if it isn't. Otherwise, you xbox will never obtain an IP itself (it will wait to be assigned one) and will never be able to connect.

The best way that always have worked for me is to set a static IP to both the xbox and the PC. Then use FlashFXP to FTP.
