I would like to know this myself. If I can't update the game by using a converted 4CDs to 1 DVD installation, then there is no point on going thru all the trouble converting the installation discs. This is just gay and plain stupid...

If you have a no-cd crack:
replace the crack for the original exe

no, I don't have a no-cd crack. I followed the tutorials on this forum to convert the install discs to DVD. The game installation works (both sims2 and university), but the game update does not (keeps asking for Sims2 CD4).

I am even trying to put both games in the same DVD if possible.

Simply insert your original CD4 for the update then.

@Jedi Knight
Read "Beetlejuice's" post #5 in this thread, I think it explains the problem correctly! Basically you need to use the original discs to finish installing the updates!

Need help on Sims 2 Update problem

I have a 4 cd version of the game and i cant instll the 1.1 Sims 2 update.
When i run the update, it asks me for the 4th cd and when i put that one in it still does not go on with the update but instead it still asks for the 4th cd?!
Does anyone knows why is that and is there a way to solve that problem, if so please help me.
By the way, i havent installed any patches nor cracks by the way. Just a fresh installed game.

Thx, mica

When it starts patching it asks for cd4, but i dont want that.
So i put my sims 2 dvd into the pc, but it still ask for cd 4

Is their a way to trick the patch or to remove it?
create yourself a patcher_iso and use this when patching. for even more fun, replace the ts2upd on the expansion disk with a dummy exe ( can be a simple C "int main(int,char**) {return 0;}" program)

make your patcher_iso with these files (maybe some less) from your original install disks
- AutoRun/autorun.cfg
- TSData/1.0.0.932
- TSData/Res/Objects/objects.package
- autorun.inf <<- make sure that entry [Special] Disk=?? matches the disk number object.package was on
- compressed.zip <<- only TSBin/1.0.0.932 && TSBin/Sims2.exe

mount this before patching.
