I've had my PAL PStwo since late October last year and I've since installed a Matrix Infinity with the Neofix Xii and it's still going strong.

If you are worried about your laser dying after voiding your warranty, you could run it for a few days solid with a scratched up DVD-R movie disc on repeat. Or play through San Andreas, that game gives the laser a real work out.

Also try a few CD based games as well.

If it's still ok after all that, you should be right, but as always, there are no guarantees.

seaneyb2003 is an unknown quantity at this point
the summone fix looks very reliable to me and a cheap alternative but it looks kinda dodgy if you dont have electrical tape as it could short out on the metal casing or pcb.
