you can also have it boot to different dashboards, without renaming them. That is the main thing for me. I can have the bios boot from E and whatnot, without eving touching C. I can leave C exactly how it should be.

I have both 1 soft one chip they both work fine the softmod has a few little bugs but nothing that would persuade me to purchase a chip ever again.
after I did the softmod I thought what a waste of $$$ on a purchase of a chip.

me and quall999 will always tell you to get a chip. Look at it in my perspective
Chip nice cheap mod duox alladin live 10-15 pounds depends around $14 on some us sites. 007 Halo or splinter cell costs like £20 Memory card £10 all of it adds up a solderless chip £$25-30 features normal xbox bios for live and for backup. What i think is that yeah if your gonna do 100 xboxs and no one ever is going to touch live go ahead but there are risks! If not go chip it it will be worth it in the long run and always upgradable as it only uses the lpc bus and d0 point which omg uve already soldered 2. At an expanding market for home entertainment companys are tying to reduce costs and stop piracy. So they will find out some time. Like quall said you can only use evox unless u edit the bios. This is prob jiberish but i still think its better to get a chip. i spent 10 pounds on my first xbox install that was it i was given free solder and wire and some tips from spedmetal how to strip the wires and scrape the laquer off. I had a little previous experience with a soldering iron back in the day at school. This was with a massive soldering nib! and i took my time it took me 50 min to do my first xbox install as it was a tricky v1.0 i couldnt get the board out. i finally did it tho and it was an experience to see it actually work first time, with a little practice you will be fine.
