Dead DVD-Drive

Anyone here have a thompson DVD drive with a dead laser they can sell me ??

I`m trying to repair buds DVD drive, his draw got jammed, so he pulled it out with a pair of pliers, then reached in with a long screwdriver, to see what was sticking .. I got hold of it once the smoke came out !!!!

While i`m here ...

The other problem this unit is having, ( V 1.0 / 1.1 xbox ) it had an aladdin mod chip in it, from cold you can boot the unit with either the top or lower button, but if you changed the game and reset the box, it wont boot, just a black screen and frag. I resoldered all the joints, same problem. Well, as its a 1mb tsop xbox, i split the tsop and installed a switch, then removed the aladdin ..

Its still having the same problem ??

( BTW .... i flashed the bios with the v1.0 - 1.5 m8 )

Any ideas, or has anyone seen this before ???

I`ve been getting this problem, with the mod installed and not installed, just for the hell of it, i removed the tsop, & reinstalled the alladin ... xbox now works ..

So its either a problem with the tsops going bad, or somthing else is pulling the line down when the tsop is installed.

BTU .... still looking for a DVD drive with a dead laser ..

Your best bet is ebay. They usually sell broken useless drives for cheap. Alternatively, you can go to xbox-scene.com and there is a "buy/sell" forum there where you can find all kinds of peoples xbox stuff.
