I think patching your virtual drives are still required. I myself tried unplugging my drives, but it was no use. You can only use the mini image to start the game (or the original cd, but I suppose you want to play without the cd). Try using different combinations of StarForce to start the game. When the checking starts and it takes too long then you shouldn't bother waiting for it to finish because when it detects the correct disk, it will start almost instantly (so you'll save plenty of time while you're testing). You might also try getting the latest StarFock. The latest version is 0.83, and they are going to release 0.9 soon. It might be possible, that StarFock isn't fully compatible with your hardware configuration, so might need to wait. Just make sure you're using the lastest D-Tools (3.47) or Alcohol 120% (1.9.2.1705) and StarFock (0.83). Don't use any of the emulations, it works fine without them.
About your computer crashing, well try running other games and if they don't crash, the source of the problem might be, that you are using one of the agressive patching methods. Good Luck

mkay
well i didnt use any patching when i disconnected the drives. Besided i tried to run another game and nothing happened, so i dint know if it was the protection that stepped in and shut it down, that would be a little to agressive for my taste. Ill try the latest version of star**** if im able to finde it. Lets see how it goes.

You're welcome
![]() About buffer underruns, try to press unpatch blacklist on all starforce versions several times to make sure it reverts the settings. You may also press enable drives several times as well. Let's hope it solves it. |

Nothing works for me

Thanx for explains, but I don't succeed in launching scrapland. Nothing works, and I've done everything several time. It drives me crazy ! Shall I use alcohol 120% instead of daemon tool 3.47 ? Thx |

After reading through all this, I think I'll use the original disc or more than likely live without the game.. Disconnecting drives to get a game to work without the original disc sounds like more work than tring to keep the original discs from getting all scratched up.

1. Go to your Control Panel
2. Doubleclick on System 3. Now click on the tab labeled Hardware 4. Then click on Device Manager 5. Under System devices you will find many names listed, but the only 2 you need to write down are "PnP BIOS Extension" and "Plug and Play BIOS Extension". "PnP BIOS Extension" belongs to Daemontools virtual drive and "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" belongs to Alcohol 120% virtual drive. Now you can close the Device Manager. 6. Go to your Windows directory and open regedit.exe (Registry Editor) 7. Now find this entry in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM \CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\SYSTEM 8. Under SYSTEM you will find numbers like "0000" "0001" "0002" "0003" etc etc. Now click on any of this numbers and look for "DeviceDesc". "DeviceDesc" contains a description for the device. If you just have Alcohol 120% virtual drive installed you have to find the number that contains the "DeviceDesc" with the text "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" next to it. And if you just have Daemontools virtual drive installed you have to find the number that contains the "DeviceDesc" with the text "PnP BIOS Extension" next to it. If you have both programs installed it speaks for it itself that you have to find both numbers. 9. Now to the important part. If for example the number "0002" contains the "DeviceDesc" with the the text "PnP BIOS Extension" next to it, you rightclick on the number 0002. Next you click on "Permission...". A window should appear. Under the header "Security" you first have to click on "SYSTEM". Then a menu with the name "Permissions for SYSTEM" appears below. In this menu you will see the the text "Read" with two choices next to it (Allow or Deny). Click on "Deny" then on OK and then on Yes. Do the same for the number that contains the "DeviceDesc" with the text "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" next to it. If you have done everything correctly "PnP BIOS Extension" and "Plug and Play BIOS Extension" should not not appear any more in the Device Manager under System devices. 10. After you have done this you can play all new starforce games by mounting the mini image. By the way dont forget to disconnect your CD or DVD-drives or to disable them(star**** 0.83). And if you have any other virtual drives other than Alcohol or Daemontools installed, just uninstall them! 11. Enjoy another bunch of Starforce protected games! )
