Japanese PS2 SCPH-50000 What am I in for?

Oi.. I wanted to decline this because I've never done any research on Japanese PS2's let alone mod one. But finally, my buddy talked me into modding his. I'll have to say this little puppy is pretty slick. It's drive reads just about all the DVD-R formats and the case is translucent black.

Is there anything special, chipping wise, I need to know about this sucker? Also, is the power supply the same? All the stickers are Japanese, I can't read the input voltage :P

**** on a stick. It looks like 100V :P Also, the 50000b comes up as a V9 on all the version finder pages.

Does this suffer the same fate as US v9's? It definately has a different laser setup as this one can read DVD-+R/RW

Well, upon further inspection. I have come to the conclusion that it's a V10. As the points match up for a v10 install as opposed to a v9. So I guess the laser issue isn't much of an issue anymore. Now just gotta worry about the voltage difference :P

Should I just drop in a US power supply?
