DC keeps re####ting with my selfbooting games? need a little help with this one

k, how i have been able to rip the game, extract the ISO, hack it, and then mkisofs it back into a ISO and put the Ip.bin file into it with ipins. and i have copyed the audio.raw onto the cd as a audio track, the DC does not load up withe the audio player any more which means that i am getting closer right? now it loads up with the play cd, play audio, VMU and settings screen. so when i click on the play game option, the DC re####ts and brings me back to the same thing after the reboot session. so my question is, does binhack.exe change all the nessasary data in the 1st_read.bin and IP.bin file or is there something that i am missing. I know that the cd layout needs to be changed and because of the different layouts between the GD-rom and the CDrom. I have also gone through this tutorial on the xena page that is called "Get the GDROM files sort order & extract ripped ".ISO" (Using ISOFIX & ISOBUSTER)" link = ####://luna.spaceports.com/~selfboot/database/obs/fix/ip/adx2/lba2.htm
this talks about the command line "mkisofs -C 0,11702 -V DOA2 -l -sort sorttxt.txt -o data.iso data" and when i did this it gave me and error about an invalid sort. So i then stoped using this tutorial and went to the "Dreamcast Self-Boot Tutorial - (C) Echelon 2000!" and i went through all of those steps and got all the command lines to work and everything, and this is as far as i have gotton, I am so close that i can feel it. i just need some help, if someone can tell me if the sort file thing is the same as the binhack.exe or not? and if not and i do need to do a sort file then what is the correct command line for that, or i am just stupid and doing something wrong with the correct command line?
thanks so much guys, this is a lot of fun and i hope that i can help you guys out went i get all this done. I am a VB6 programmer and i am planning on making some Friendlier tools ones i get this to work.

You need to defeat the copy protection, using hack 3 etc b4 the game will work probably.
Is the game a Katana type or CDDA?
Give me a bit more info about the game and i will try to help!

Well the game that i am trying to Backup is Dead or alive 2. i have found an online Database that tells me to use "hack3 1st_read.bin 0" to hack the game, i will try this in a min, i am downloading DC_tools.zip because someone told me that i had everything that i needed. but then i will try to go find the hack stuff if that is not in there. BTW, that command line "hack3 1st_read.bin 0" do i put a 0 at the end or do i put a something else if i want to make it selfbooting? and what does the program binhack.exe do then, i was told in the Dreamcast Self-Boot Tutorial - (C) Echelon 2000! to use it and i did. anyways, thanks so much for helping me, this is really apreciated over here.

You can get all the tools from off this website.

If you are going to make a backup non-selfboot, then use the command HACK3.EXE 1ST_READ.BIN 0, if selfboot use HACK3.EXE 1ST_READ.BIN 11700 OR 17002 depending on the info given to u from cdrecord after burning the first audio session.

Binhack.exe just gets the LBA structure info correct in the 1ST_READ.BIN for booting.
I personally never use the hack3 etc tools for cracking the copy protection, if you get a hex editor open up the 1ST_READ.BIN and search for 5EB0 0000, there should be 2 instances, just change them both to 9600 0000, this does the same as the HACK3 tool.

Hope this helps

K, now i got hack3 and all that, and it still will not work. i know that my DC should not have a problem with it cause i use the Utopia Cd for crazy taxi that i downloaded and it worked. But now i am ripping my self cause 28.8k connections suck for downloads. anywayz, i noticed that when i put a copied cd into my cdrom it says that the media is not formatted and asks me if i want to format it or not? could this be the problem? i an using Cdrwin to create the CDs, first i burn the audio.raw, then i burn the ISO as cdrom xa, and mode2. i was having some problems with the dos based cdrecord but i quess that i can try that if you think it helps. or is there a way that i can like close the session on the cd or something, i don;t understand why it says that the cd in not formatted?

k, another think that i just noticed is that when i try to burn in does, the first track audio.raw works fine, but then the second, data.iso does not work, it says "cannot open new session" and gives me a bunch of 00 03 05 code things. well i used the command "cdrecord -dev=1,1,0 -speed=6 -xa1 data.iso". is there something that i can do to make this work. anyways, thanks for the help. i am really hoping to get a working CD this weekend. If you want, i have ICQ my number is 35821109 if you want to add me and talk to me real time to get me burning and ripping. thanks soooo much man, i really appreciate your help

I haven't got ICQ at the moment but i will get it and try to contact you.

Try this (probably best to use a CD-RW if possible) burn the AUDIO.RAW using CDR-WIN and make sure that the open new session box is #####ed, from the selfboot toolkit onto a blank CD. Then go to your cdrecord directory in DOS and type: cdrecord -dev=1,1,0 -msinfo and tell me what the number is that it spits out?

it spits out 0,11700. but before it had spit out 0,11702, but i don;t think that i had loaded the audio.raw onto the cd. i will try burning it now with this new number, and let you know if it helps at all or not.
