well, i know people that have sold a broken xbox for parts (each piece seperately) and have made enough to buy another used xbox.
Tyler, yah, that is what I am saying. I can't verify it at all, but it seems to be in the rumors. It sucks, because you cannot just get a new eeprom if you are banned.

You can just get a new EEprom, just nick your mates
 Hmm I might just sell my mates as it is then, and get this other one I've seen on eBay, I've contacted the owner and he will ship it to me with another 4x games and a controller for £65. It hasn't been on xbox live nor has it been opened. Sounds good.

You cannot just change eeproms like before. They are not banning the serial number of the eeproms anymore. Instead, they are just banning HDD keys.
You have to get a legitimate HDD key from another xbox that has never and will never go online, then overwrite yours with that into your eeprom. However, you will just keep getting banned after you do that for the same reason as before.

Well i might just buy one off eBay that hasn't been offline and mod that, and sell my mates one to make some cash, or might tell my mate I dont want his
 What you reckon? 1) Buy new 2) Duo x2 Chip 3) 120gb 5200rpm Maxtor HDD 4) Play online with chip off. Is that the basic path I should be following?

I don't see anything wrong with that setup. Just make sure that chip works on a 1.6 if you get an xbox new.

yeah the chip does work with a 1.6 just switch the bank to no.1 also i reflashed the bios to a newer evox because of booting probs
