You don't need Alcohol to use the no-cd patch. Alcohols virtual drive is so you don't need the cd.
Option A: You install the game from the cd and use the no-cd patch so it doesn't ask you for the cd each time you play. Option B: you install the game from the cd and then use alcohol to make an .mds file of the game and mount that .mds file in alcohols virtual drive. Alcohol makes another cd drive and makes the computer think that the .mds file is the cd.
