|
Black screens are caused by bridging on the BIOS pins. As for the fuses, I find you get better readings from smaller probes - if your multimeter has the thicker probes, you may find it slightly harder to obtain a reading. You need a magnifying glass to check the bios and remove that short.

black screens are also caused by the ba chip too.
Try checking your soldering and make sure the wires are in the correct possision and are not crossed or bridged.

i'm seeing a potential (as in, i can't see well enough to confirm) bridge between pin N and the one below it (between M and N - see picture) .. the amount of solder is so small that i'm not sure what it'll take to get it out. it also looks like it's in there pretty deep. i've already tried a solder sucker to no avail. is it time to buy some wick, or is there still another way to do it?

yeah remove that bit of solder with a desoldering braid you can get them at any maplin or radio shack
