Patching depends on the bios. Games rarely need individual patching. I can only think of about 2 off the top of my mind. That chip should be fine, since it is flash upgradable.
If you are using an hdd, gamesize will not matter. all those games copy to the HDD fine, without the need of patching to play. If you have an upgraded drive, ftp is not needed. Just pop the sick in, and copy directly to the HDD.
