No, don't use Memorex. It'll kill your laser whatever. Backup to Ritek and ALWAYS do a Romeo Mod.

The Romeo Mod is already done.
I assume that copying over from Memorex to Ritek would be safe?

Yes it would, but why don't you just copy from your original?

I serve in the IDF(Israeli Defence Force AKA Army). My originals are tucked safely under my bed at home. So gaining access to them would take much time and effort. Oh, and I don't want to bring them to base and have someone accidently borrow them. Forever.

^ lol good reply. Yeah use ritek, but you will get slight noises. DVD-Rs can never be as good as originals.

I have been using TY and Ritek for my backups and have had no probs yet.

One last thing; I have a NEC ND 2500a DVD burner. After reading the forums on CDfreaks I found out that using new firmware would help. I was reccomended the Herrie's 1072b5 firmware. Does anyone here have any arguments for or against using it?
Also, it seems like that firmware will let me burn RitekG04 DVDs at 8X. I read here that sometimes it is good to burn at max speed, and sometimes - At slowest speed. Which is the case here? Should I burn at slowest possible speed or at fastest speed?

Always burn at the fastest speed and Herrie's Fw's are very good
