No-DVD patch for Myst 4 question

Hi all, nice to be here,

Regarding the no-dvd patch for Myst 4, I notice that the patch installs a new “Myst4.exe” as well as the “M4_thor_rd.dll”. The new “Myst4.exe” file is much smaller (80Kb) than the one it replaces (1.19Mb). Over 1 Mb of data is lost (or am I figuring wrong?) So are we losing some of the game by installing the patch?

By the way, I have a new Plextor PX 712A DVD burner installed along with part of Nero 6 Ultra. Myst 4 installed without a problem. I do have to run with Disk 2 in the tray. The No-DVD patch works but I wonder if data is lost with the patch (see the question above).

Thanks to all who choose to reply, Bill

No, no data is lost! As its protected with Safedisc I would say its smaller because the protection has been removed! But only 'Barry' would really be able to confirm this!

Being the fixed EXE from MONEY, Grumpy is 100% correct. It's been stripped of the Safedisc protection hence it's much smaller size! The ammount of data that gets removed is all the Safedisc bloatware crap

Just sent a new NoDVD for the Myst v1.01 patch to GCW.

I found out the original MONEY crack from v1.0 works with the patch After removing the DVD check from an updated DLL the game ran perfectly with the MONEY EXE and let me load my old save game I think only the copy protection must have been updated in the EXE!!

Hope it works for everyone else!

P.S. Please don't ask me to mail you the patch, wait for it to appear on GCW thanks!

I fixed it manually using code from first m4_thor_rd.dll.
Address is little different.
Just backup new m4_thor_rd.dll and change value on address 0EB51B from 75 to EB.
