Aladdin Advance won't flash!

Hi all, I installed an Aladdin Advance chip in my friends xbox and have been having a few problems with it. I have done a few Aladdin installs and this is the first one that has given me grief. About a month after the install my friend was complaining that the xbox was freezing up during some games (I also did a hdd upgrade) he was playing off the hdd. When he returned the box I tried booting up and found that it wouldn't always boot properly with the chip enabled ie. wouldn't flash red, amber then green when the power button was held down.
I checked my solder joins (straight solder to mb, no pin header) and found one was a little dodgy and the joint for the d0 point on the mb was a little loose. I fixed them and all seemed to be good. But a few weeks later he said he was having trouble again. I am now in the process of fixing it and I thought it might be a heat problem. I just used xbtool to hack a version of the x2 4981.06 bios and increased the fan speed from 25% to 65%. I transfered the new bios.bin file to the c:\bios folder on his hdd and tried to reflash this bios. I held the power button in for three seconds and the power led went red then flashed amber a few times then turned green and the evox dashboard booted up. When i tried to flash the bios it said "Flash not Writeable".
Is the chip screwed or am I doing something wrong?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
P.S. Sorry for the long post.

yeah i know the exact problem you have held the power button not long enough. Hold the power button for 2 seconds and the bios becomes writeable

ihaveanosebleed is on a distinguished road
Is it a 'Plus' chip with the BIOS chip in a socket? With a Socket chip you could swap an updated BIOS from another Aladdin.

I'vew installed Aladdin AP's exclusivley, I found they were half the price of anything else and worked great. Flashed with M7, you don't need the L2 wire which means you don't need to remove the Mobo. If you want it automatically on all the time, from what I understand you don't even need the D0 wire, just ground the D0 pad.

All my chips stay amber when activated in protected or non-protected mode. When you say your chip goes back to geen when you hold it, makes me wonder if it's not functioning properly or a different version than the ones I have.

Thanks for the replies guys. I tried what you said seaney ie. hold power button down for two seconds, but the machine wouldn't even boot up with the chip enabled this time. It went straight to the ms dash. So i pulled it apart, redid my solder joints, again , then rebooted, flashed the new bios and everything seems to be ok. In the process of testing it now. Hope all will be good this time.
The type of Aladdin chip i am using is the Aladdin advance 64, ihaveanosebleed. You can find info on it at http://www.modchips.com.au/index.php?cPath=23_38
Don't know if it is the same one you are talking about. Don't think so though.
Cheers guys.
