anybody got any ideas - I tend to think the disk may be faulty!

I have the same problem, but my PS2 is chipped and I have a Seagate 120gb HD. Its compatible as I checked but the PS2 is Model SCPH-39002. Can anyone help me please? Even with the chip I had trouble playing copied games. Do you think the chip has corrupted something?

As well, I have installed on HDloader is Ghost Recon - Jungle Storm,Syphon Filter and when I go to play it the screen is black and nothing comes up. I let it go for about 2 minutes. Is this correct?

But I have loaded G1 Jockey and that is working fine.

Sorry about this but I only tried to use it tonight.

Swifty,

I first got the insert ps or ps2 format disc when I tried to install burnout 3 on my hdd. The way I over came this problem was to put the original game in the drive, and while the ps2 was still reading the disc, hit install. Once the ps2 read the disc and stopped spining, I got the error message.

Hope this helps a bit.

Problem solved about loading games onto HD.

The games it wont accept to play are the games with network play. Its cool, i just have to use the original disks.

Check out the PS2 Game Compatibility Chart for HDD Thread on this forum:

PS2 Game Compatibility Chart for HD Thread

It leads to 2 sites which tell the compatibility of games with the HD. You should be able to play Burnout 3 Takedown in Mode 3. Make sure you try out different modes before giving up You can't play the NFS:U 2 Demo though.... but hey, after burnout why would you?

Once again check the previous post to go to games that are compatible with the HD. Ghost Recon should work, enable Mode 3 to play (For US NTSC Version, dunno about the other ones). Syphon Filter (Omega Strain?) seems to be incompatible with the HD, not loading the first level (Not training level). Hope this helps!

Thanks but I have a PAL system as im in Australia. One other question how do I get the Mode up on HDloader, when I press play on mine it goes straight to the loading of the game.

To all the people using PAL i will be interested on what games you have?
Either post up here or pm would be fine.

@Swifty

When the game you want to change modes on is highlighted, hit select, not X.

On my trusty PAL system I have Burnout 3, Smack Down HCTP, Kingdom Hearts and Star Wars BF. I've got a bunch of other games, but I don't play them anymore. I'm still messing around with BF trying to get it playable solely from HDD.
