Is This Possible? PS2/Messiah2 Question

I'm somewhat new to this forum, however, I've been able to take away a lot of useful information.

I have a PS2 (#SCPH-30001) with a Messiah2 chip installed. The darn thing worked great for awhile and then got to a point where it played nothing at all.

I was able to get some suggestions here and there on how to bring my PS2 up to speed (tweaking laser pots, etc.), but was unable to get any further life out of my console.

I'm certain that the damage I've done to my PS2 by trying all of these things has rendered my PS2 unsalvagable, however, I still need a remedy which brings me to my question: If I were to remove the circuit board (with modchip) from my non-operational PS2, could I then purchase another PS2 (same version) and simply swap out the circuit boards and be up and running again? It seems easy enough, but has anyone done this or know if this would work? I would simply like to avoid the hassle of removing my chip and then going through the long process of getting someone to install it.

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Many thanks in advance,
theecomer

Thanks for the reply HjLLD00. I appreciate you steering me toward a reliable version of PS2 laser.

However, my questions still is unanswered. The reason I ask is that I have access to a fairly cheap PS2 (same version as my own), thus the above question. So it won't cost me much more.

Can this be done?

Thanks,
theecomer
