Are you saying to use recordnow to back it up (normally a two .gi file set) and the latest WINDip to patch it for online play? -- then burn again using recordnow.
seems easier if it were just a single iso made from dvd decrypter... right?

No, the .gi without the number at the end: e.g:
SOCOM.gi - PATCH THIS FILE SOCOM(2).gi So therefore, it's just as easy patching a multiple .gi as it is an ISO
