ReelBigFish, like MountainDew and others have said, the crack that is currently available on numerous sites, GCW included, does not work properly. I'm sure a new one will be out soon

Cool

Take it from a rather experienced programmer who has tried to learn to crack: It is NOT easy.
It's not impossible however. Apart from the few programs that will allow you around certain protections and generate and exe for you, it's going to take some time to learn. Learn Hexadecimal, learn binary, learn assembler, learn C++, and get softICE. There's lots of good guides out there if you're willing to find them. Keep in mind that I'm a C++ programmer and haven't ever cracked a thing in my life (haven't had enough time to sit down and learn assembler very well). I'm going off of guides I've seen or read. If I'm wrong, someone please correct me. Good luck, and have fun.

Okay, I read everything everyone posted and thought to myself, why not just use the no-cd crack AND thesmall image file TOGETHER??? So, I downloaded the 5.5mb no cd crack, deamon tools, and "Sims2-Playdisk-Rip" (whatever file). I installed daemon tools, rebooted, and mounted the sims2 file. Next, I simply replaced the exe with the crack and the game booted up perfectly. I started a game in pleastantville and built a house with NO PROBLEMS!!! I was placeing furniture and the likes and the game did NOT crash at all. I went into another home, and added stuff there, and the game played without a problem and with NO CD! Give that a shot, for it SHOULD clear up all this B.S. I've been reading over and over and over and over and over again. If this doesn't work for you, seriously, you have issues!

Enjoy!!!

The point is you DON'T NEED the no-cd exe using the disk image, it works 100% with the original sims2.exe.

Unfortunatly, some people do. I did everything correctly from using Alcohol120%, deamon tools, CloneCD, deleting Clone CD, etc etc etc etc etc, and I ALWAYS got the notice saying to turn off virtual drives. After doing it the way I explained above, it stopped and I am able to play the game 100%.

This is just another method to getting the program to run properly if you still get errors trying to play.
