I have the Sony DWU-18a, its a very good writer.
May i suggest you get your hands on some DVD-R RiData G04 discs, they are fantastic with this burner that is if you decide to get it. Although don't you think you should get a dual layer burner?

I have a Lite-On 832S - Fantastic Dual-Layer writer, and beats the arse out of my 104
 Some writers allow you to upgrade firmware and allow burning to Dual Layer media. What writer do you have atm?

hey lufcfan... i have asked this but noone replied so ill give it a shot in here especialy since u asked..lol
i have a Toshiba SD-R5002 dvd-r writer.. do u know of any upgrades/hacked firmware that will allow me to use it as a dual writer and maybe also an upgraded speed? thanks a lot!
