I'm using x2.4983.06 bios and it has a boot order for dashes that are on the C folder. My default xbox dashboard is called "xboxdash.xbe" and my evox dash is called "evoxdash.xbe." With the mod chip turned on, the bios boots the exovdash.xbe first, because of the boot order which allows me to get into evox. With the mod chip turned off, the original bios boots xboxbash.xbe allowing me to connect to XBL.
So, depending on your bios and modchip, your original xbox dash does not have to get deleted or renamed, just name your custom dash to something that the bios will load according to the boot sequence. Also, your custom harddrive will have to be locked in order to boot with the modchip off. |

That sounds like the kinda thing I'm after. I don't have a custom HD, so I've nothing to worry about there. You say your evox is called evoxdash.xbe and loads up because of the boot sequence in your bios: Is this defined by you? If so how? or is it just the bios standard?
I guess I should try doing the same for me and seeing... Thanks for your help there! And about the mod-chip staying on, I'm assuming provided my LED is green, I'm safe to go on xbl? And orange means don't do it? Edit: Renamed xboxdash to evoxdash and msxboxdash to xboxdash and I now get either the original or evox depending on chip on/off. Thanks a bunch!
