@Morglum007: I think he just wants to do what I've just done and install using any of the 3 install options without it asking for a CD. He doesn't need to muck about with the MPQ files as it installs with no modifications to any files.

The install.exe checks for files being in the root of the CD/DVD, that's the only criteria that matters, so don't put the files in a folder!

i've managed to get Diablo 2 working from DVD with no problem, simply dumped all files from the 3 CDs to one folder and burned to DVD, works with no problem

however im also trying to get Lord of Darkness on the same disk and am having problems. i've found out that basically the install menu will not run unless the files are in the root directory of the disk (ie D:\SETUP.EXE, D:\INSTALL.EXE, D:\SETUP.MPQ etc)

the same thing goes for Diablo 2 itself, so the problem is that i cant put both Diablo 2 and LOD in the root directory, as they both have 3 files with the same names (mentioned above).
nor can i put LOD in a separate directory, say for eg. D:\LOD because then i would have D:\LOD\SETUP.EXE, D:\LOD\INSTALL.EXE, D:\LOD\SETUP.MPQ, and the menu will not run as these files are not in the root directory

the error message im getting says it can not find a file, so its looking in the wrong place (D:\, when i want it to look in D:\LOD) so what i have to do is somehow find out where this location is stated/found and change it to look in the right place.... but i have no idea how, as Blizzard use their own install methods.

im up to speed on hex editing and have winmpq, and am searching through the files, but so far no luck, so any help would be appreciated
