Cleaning discs are garbage. Take the PS2 apart and clean it right or take it to someone who can.

I disagree, they are useful for keeping on top of the problem. If your laser is caked in dust, it's a better idea to disassemble, but if my console or DVD player etc... have problems reading, cleaning discs have always sorted the problem...

If people would use a laser cleaner ever so often it would never get to the point of being caked up

I’ve cleaned a few stations that stopped working altogether after they used lens cleaners. Just look how the lasers are built, the black cover is just right for collecting the dust off those brushes and dropping it down inside the sled assembly, not a good place to be moving dust to.
I’ve had some pretty filthy stations show up here! The drive in my own station has been sealed from airflow so it’s always clean. |
