On a full installation of GTA:Vice city the cd isn't even read apart from when you boot

i just watched myth busters and at 25,000 rpms the cds shattered and they said a 52x drive can get the cd spinning up to 30,000 rpms

Actually its the media that is inferior that breaks. If you use cheap media and burn at top speed you may get a wobbly disc and at 52x speeds that wobbly disc will break.
