On & Off
I installed the Matrix Infinity in a version 5 and when I turn on the power then push the on button it turns on for about 2 seconds then goes back to stand-by. I have checked every connection with a volt meter and every connection next to my solder points to check 4 bridging and the are pretty good so could it be a bad pad or joint? First time installing on the ps2. Then did my v9 and it works great.any thoughs would help!!!!

I would check for a dry joint or a crossed wire.

Since you installed your own chip, you may already know this but it doesnt hurt to ask as some have done this before.
Did you use the same install diagram, or did you use the v5, and v9 install diagrams perspectively?

Thanks for the advice, this ps2 is a buddy's (that was modded with a really old style 6 wire chip)and it has a version 4R serial# on the shell. So when I was looking at the diagram nothing matched up. I then downloaded all the diagrams and matched them up and he has a version 5 board. Don't know how unless the person that modded it before swapped cases or something like that.

Very possible but for what reason would this be done is the real question. It may also be the answer to why it is giving you trouble with the install in the first place. There may be unforeseen damage that is causing the chip not to work. It could be minor and then again maybe there is a whole can of worms about to be openned here. I would suggest maybe selling it on ebay or to someone else who dont want a mod chip and buying a different console like a v7 if you can find one and modding it instead. There is definitely a very good reason for switching the case like that, and it cant be a good one either. It might save you/him alot of problems and wasted time.

The old 6 wire Neo chips are known for causing laser damage. I agree with CGL, sell it and get a newer console.
