+R were never meant for video. -R is the standard format for video production industries. +R was invented by Sony to get a part of the market of DVD media.

Because of the confusion and the unreliable, unpredictable performance of +R or -R in certain DVD players, it seems likely that marketing pressures will drive manufacturers to build DVD players that handle both formats with equal ease. That has already happened with DVD recorders.
