FOLLOWUP:

When I found the above reported (parasite?) file, I also used the "TPower" utility to find a related program, "C-DillaCdaC11BA," running in the background. The "TPower" utility provided a means to disable that background program, and I did so.

Since that time I have observed NO unusual performance or characterictic changes in my computer. I have burned both DVDs and CDs with the machine after this change, therefore I have to conclude that this program serves no useful function. At the same time, I do not know if it does any harm. I still have no clue as to how it got onto my computer.
