Yes, its working if you disable from Windows.
go to control panel ---> double click System ---> go to tab Hardware ---> device manager ---> right click your optical drives and choose disable !!! It is not necesary to disable your virtual drivers (from alcohol, clonecd or deamon) !!! After this mount the file from sgtshaft and thats all. The game is working perfectly. If you get some errors you need to clean starforce **** with StarforceClean. After reboot try again to play the game. All credits to sgtshaft. Nice work man. When you give us a solution to toca racer 2 DVD? |

Working!
In windows XP it doesn+t seem to matter if you disable the cd drives in bios.
Win xp overrides, so you need to pull out the IDE-cables inside the puter. Thanx a lot for the help!

It was first posted on a chinese forum by some anonymous guy. But some good news, it is a generic hack it can be used on all starforce games. Alas toca might prove a bit more difficult as its on DVD. |

No warez please Tootzie!! Heres some intresting info on starforce. 1. Starforce never even bothers to check toc, if there's data at all on the cd, atip. 2. Seems like blacklisting was done by checking if specific data is at the same time read from hdd when checking process is taking place. Ofcourse image file was at the same time read when vitual cd was checked - thus it never actually _specifically_ blacklisted alcohol/dt virtual drives, it was a very general blacklist... The fact that images mounted over lan passed cd-checks also fits well into this theory... 3. Starforce checks very very limited area of cd to get it's dpm and if dpm seems alrigh it doesn't ever bother to go farther. So seems like starforce developers felt overly safe having their low-level access drivers and thinking not even some MOST primitive checking is needed except dpm... Maybe all my presumptions are crap wrong and it's just some strange bug produced by removing all files. So here's what you do to get SHOWWII working: Make image with starforce 1/2/3 profile, get dpm at low speed. Run your favourite iso editing software Ultraiso/Winiso etc. I used ultraiso. Now delete all files from the image. Click save as, save as bin. For reference, the resulting file size should be 68 208 bytes. Trash the cue. Now get original mds, rename the bin to original mdf. Now you have a mini image that's sufficient to make starforce happy consisting of original mds and mdf with all files removed... So starforce won't see that specific date deing read from hdd at the same time... Now do the usual stuff - unplug physically/disable in bios all ide cd/dvd devices, mount the image on alcohol/dtools virtual drive and it'll work. Thanks 2 Madk9 nforce forum |

By following your instructions I managed to play with the copied cd just fine. But ever since I installed that patch, it says my key is wrong.
I read someplay that the image-crack could be used for the patched (updated) version as well |

Good things come to those who wait. After weeks of frustration and no patches your method (mini image unplug cdrom) is working!!! Thanx you all

I don't get why all these people are going through all this trouble to play the game without their CDs?
Isn't the whole point of a no-cd/crack to make your life easier without having to rummage around for discs? And now you're rooting inside your PC unplugging cables and rebooting. I can understand some people who are just pleased to overcome starforce and who like to test and experiment. As for the rest?

The 'crack' is not working for me either.
I am using windows xp. I removed the drives from the bios, but windows kept finding them, so I disabled them from 'device' manager. However when I mounted the file into the daemon tools drive, and tried to run the game, i got the same error message = wrong disk or something. I removed the copy protection using safeclean, rebooted, tried to run the prob, it prompted me for a reboot in order to complete the installation, and then I got the same error I was always getting... bummer |
