I have a new v9 that I plan to chip with a matrix infinity. I also have a friend with a damaged ps2 I can ask him to lend me the cable to test it out. I will probably go see him on monday. But what do you think about the fuse?

Not sure about the fuse at this point until you get the ribbon replaced.
Once you do that, then you can do a test and see if it works. I doubt the ribbon is the only problem though. As for the fuse, it is very small. Not sure how easy it will be to replace, if at all possible. Try pm-ing spedmetal. He is extremely skilled in this area. Perhaps he can help you in regard to this fuse delema.
