i tried the evox boot disk in like 3 different versions that i have to no avail i just get the microsoft dash when the xbox boots and it wont read any dvd-r it will just play all the origonal games i dont understand it is like my chip went bad the evox boot disk just gibes me the dirty or damaged error any other ideas out there?

So basically, what your saying is, is that the machine will only boot to the original dash and boot original games only. mmm??? And you say it wont boot copied games or any unsigned code. Sounds like there is a possibilty of a defect in the chip. However, like i stated before, going live wouldn't mess up the chip or bios.

What mod do you have and bios version?

Furthermore, to regards to making a evox disc, add dummy files to the disc i.e. 600mb so the xbox has a better chance at reading the disc, yet if your machine wont boot any of your games you have tried previously then i'm not sure on what to do here. Other members of the forum may know.

the chip is the only thing i can think of but why now just after i tried to hook two xboxes up after the dashboard tried to update for live coincidence i dont think so but at this time ya never know as for the chip and bios it is an old matrix as for the bios i dont remember the version number right now th box has a 120 gig hard drive in it running the newest version of evox (i think) have had no other major problems to date as for the evox boot disk i know about the dummy space and yes i had it in all the boot disks i tried about th yank the chip maybe tonight thanks for the help

If its a Matrix chip, then it might have come out of place. Check your connections.

tried re flashing and re installing still same problem the green led on the chip is flashing indicating it is in position
