I've got the NCRYSO release working just fine.

Burned it at 1x with a Plextor writer on a TDK disc. I don't even think it's that good, but I tried on a cheaper disc and failed to make it work.

Already updated the game to the latest version and it still works.

Bottom line: it's possible to make it work. I guess you just have to be a little lucky with your burner.
