Probs with dc-pc serial cable

I had the same problems, to start with. Make sure you reboot your PC just before ripping, i personally close ALL applications running with CTRL-ALT-DELETE leaving only the bare minimum running.

Also invest in a good CD cleaning kit and try to remove any scratches/marks from the GD ROM before ripping, this worked for me but i'm not saying it's foolproof. If non of the above work i suggest looking at the cable itself.
