Not much happens. I try it from both standby, and off. If the unit is off, it turns on and ejects the tray. If from standby, it ejects the tray while i hold the button down. Am i looking for some kind of response?

When the wires that patch the cd/dvd controller are shorting to one another or with ground or anything that it shouldn’t be for that matter, you will get a black screen like you are describing. 'P-W' and I believe 'O' are the wires you want to check. Also make sure that the wires aren’t getting pinched by the ground plates. If this happens they can short out with the plates thus grounding that wire as well as the cd/dvd chip.

Does it eject strange? Like from standby hit reset to turn it on then hit eject. Does it not eject but the blue light blinks for a long time? Or if it does eject does it take longer then it normally would before it finally opens?

What version is your PS2 by the way, and what version is your DMS3?

Good luck

Ive got a version 9 Ps2. I dont know what version DMS3 chip i have. it says v9 on it, so i assume its meant for a v9 ps2.

I do have a small confession. I wasnt able to solder wires p-w very easily, so to avoid a faulty solder situation, I simply stuck the wire in the holes, and tacked them down as best i could. the holes were so small, I figured a connection with the wire was unavoidable. I double checked everything before i reassembled the unit, so to my assumption, they were connected.

Many of the connections were so tiny, and rather specific, so I'm not sure what kind of connection i ended up with

You need to get a pro to do the install. You cant just stick the wire in the hole and expect it to work.

hmm. ok. well, ive managed to get the system to power up and display the browser and system configuration screen. Upon testing, I get peculiar results... a DVD disc is detected as a PS2 disc and refuses to play. An Original PS2 Game is detected as a PS2 Disc and plays fine. An Audio CD is detected as is and plays perfectly. And a backup PS2 disc is detected and plays fine. So apparently ive lost the DVD functionality in my ps2, which i wanted to keep intact...
