Questions about Ritek DVDs and Compatibility

I have a Mad Dog Multimedia MegaSTOR 6-in-1 Dual Layer 8X DVD+/-R+/-RW drive. I have burned Verbatim DVD-R 1x-4x without any problem.

I would like to purchase some Riteks, but have a few questions.

1. The compatibility chart from Meritline does not show the Mad Dog drive in the Ritek Compatibility chart. The list was last updated in April and this Mad Dog drive is a newer drive. If an "older" drive is not listed on the list, then you have to assume the disks won't burn in your drive?
Meritline has a warranty, so I don't stand anything to lose by trying them, but I would like some clarification on this compatibility chart.

There seem to be different types of Ritek DVDs:
Silver Matte
Silver Shiny
Ridata Branded
White Inkjet Printable
White Inkjet Printable/Ridata Hub Branded

2. One or some of these are supposedly high resistant to fingerprints. Does this feature really work? I have kids who will be handling these DVDs and this could be a very good trait, if it's true.

3. On the other "non white" ones, it appears the top side of the DVD does not have any lines, so if you prefer to write directly on the DVD, I assume you have to have a good straight handwriting?

Basically you can try and see if your drive will burn Riteks just as good as any other drive by actually testing it yourself. Chances are your drive will burn them just as nicely as any other drive.

The Silver Matte, Silver Shiny, and the Ridata Branded are all the exact same discs priced differently because of whats on the top of the disc. There is really no difference in quality on these, just whatever your preference may be.

The White Inkjet Printable or White Inkjet Printable/Ridata Hub Branded are for printing directly onto the discs if you have such hardware.

Dont really know to much about the fingerprint resistance thing. But if your making backups of original dvd's then just reburn them. If your making backups of your own personal data off your pc then make an extra backup.
