C&C Generals keeps crashing!!!

I have tried alot of different cracks for Command and Conquer Generals but each one crashes at the same places. Some display the launcher screen and then show an error message saying: "Sorry, a serious error occured".
Others go further, the opening movies appear all distorted and out of view, then as soon as the main menu is displayed it crashes again showing the same error as before. And some just don't even start to load at all.

Can anyone please tell me how to get it working?

Thanx.

Have you overclocked your PC?
If so, lower your settings a little.

@Jimmy jnr.

Please tell us, if your original cds (don't using a crack) is working correct!
We need to know if it's a software or a hardware problem.
