Dreamcast GD-ROM burning HELP
Hello,
I'd posted this topic before but got no help on it. I just got a referel which didn't help. BASICALLY, let me start off by saying that my CD burner is NOT compatible with CDRWIN or CD RECORD, so do NOT refere me to the Echelon Selfboot tutorial. I have just ripped the GD-ROM Mortal Kombat Gold. Basically, I converted all the audio files to .WAV and I came out with 2 isos. (one large-one small) And I'm kinda wondering how to burn the ISOs and the .WAV files if my CD burner isn't compatible with CDRWIN or CDRECORD. If anyone has any idea please feel free to express them. I'd certainly be VERY appreciative! (NOTE: I do have nero, and Alcohol 120% if that helps at all) Thank you! |

you can try extracting the files, binhacking the bootbins to 0, mkisofs the data with lba 0,0, then use bin2boot_cdda.exe to make a selfboot .cdi.
btw, do you have the latest ASPI layers installed? i think version 4.70. i remember i tried to use cdrecord one time and got a blue screen. i updated my ASPI and now it works. have you tried cdrecord version 2.0? it supports more burners than 1.1x.

Hello,
Thank you for your support. I tried exctracting the ISOs and the computer does a quick like 1 second procedure....just didn't do anything. Also, my ASPI layer is the correct version, still don't work. No CD burner support for cdrecord 2.0. Any more ideas? Lol!

The latest ASPI version is 4.71.2 ... and the two ISO tracks you ripped from the GD-ROM are useless as such - you must use the extract.exe command from the dreamrip package to extract both of them (at the same time) into a folder of game files. The first ISO contains the filesystem... the second ISO contains the actual data but it's unreadable without the first ISO, whereas the first ISO by itself appears to contain nothing but zero-byte files. Confusing, but that's how it is
The two ISOs must be combined via the extract.exe command, and you'll need to specify the LBA of the second ISO as well...

Okay, basically, I did what you said, I got ASPI 4.71.2, and I have the tracks in a folder, then I put EXTRACT.EXE in that folder, highlighted both tracks and drug them to EXTRACT.EXE. It gave the error message that extract.exe performed an illegal operation, and was going to be shut down. Happens every time I do that. What is LBA? (what does it stand for and what does it mean) and when you mean to specify the LBA (I'm assuming typing it in?) but how do I find it in the first place? Basically though, that's where I'm at.

extract.exe is a DOS command, you can't just drag files onto it and run it like a Windows application. You must specify the filenames of both ISO tracks, followed by the LBA offset of the second track (as found on the GD-ROM disc) in a command prompt (DOS box).
LBA = logical block address = where a track starts on a disc. When extracting tracks from your GD-ROM disc, write down the LBA number that the ripping software gives you for the second ISO track (not the first). Then, in a DOS session, type: extract firstdatatrack.iso seconddatatrack.iso 123456 <-- example, of course. The extract command will then write all the files inside the ISO filesystem into your current folder. That's it! |
