I prefer to use bbrip 1.1. It has it's quirks, but has always worked well for me.
You said you get a list of tracks with it... if so, you're almost there.
Are you checking more than one data track to download at a time? If so, you'll get an error. It can only download one data track at a time, but it can download multiple audio tracks at once.
It may take several tries to download a track with bbrip. Sometimes you can check the track, specify a directory to download, but it will act like you did nothing. Just try it several times until it works. If it displays an error message, click reboot from the bbrip menu and then connect again.
You may have to try several times, but it's worth it.
