Lan youré xbox instead ftp it.
Is there a way to connect youré xbox hard drive whitout a ftp program? For example using youré Local Area Network on youré pc.

Know i use a ftp program to connect my pc whit my xbox to transfer files. But is it possible to share my xbox over my home network. for example when i wan't to transfer files to a second pc in my house i don't use a ftp program. I only click on my desktop on the icon "network locations".

nope u gotta ftp it
but u can also ftp from ur 2nd pc if its on the same router/hub

their is a way to network the xbox so u dont need to ftp u just click a shortcut to access the xbox like accessing another hdd on your network.
look around the xbox scene tutorial section for a guide

You can map an ftp server in windows explorer. I did it a while ago, but never use it. You have to set your xbox to a static IP in order to do it though, unless you want to change the network location settings everytime you want to connect.
edit: Right click on "My Network", then click "map new network drive". In the popup, shoose "sign up for online storage..etc" that is underlined. Then hit next, select "choose another network location". Type in the ftp address and follow the rest of the wizard.

yah, i have it mapped, but never use it. Besides, I guess if won't show up in the network connections, other the the PC you added it to.
XBMC may have something like it, but I doubt it.

heck yeah you can...
I havent used a FTP proggie since I upgraded my HDD you can just use internet explorer just type this in ftp://xbox:[email protected]/ but use your own user/pass and IP addy In windows XP i just went to the add a network place wizard thing and now when i click on network places it pops right up... |

I'm guessing the true nature of Gideons question is more about using a protocol like TCP/IP instead of FTP?
Yes speed, Windows has integrated support of FTP. That's probably the easiest, but some of the 3rd party programs have better features.
