if its over heating.. it wouldnt do the 3 reboots.. just be a solid red one..
another slight possiblity for one would be the solid green with no audio or visual.. which is what u experienced if i can recall double check the traces... how long was ur system on for? around what temperature is it there? i think u said it did that with the chip out right? could be a hardware failure.. thats usually what the flashing means... answer my q's and ill let u noe what to do
