Xbit help
Alright ladies and gentlemen! it seems my friend and I are having a bit of trouble with his new Xbit mod chip. I went to flash the chip for him and clikced on configuration 6 in the bios flashing tool. I installed the 4977 x2 bios on the 265k in the Bios 6, Bios 5, Bios 4, Bios 3 sections and they all installed correctly (they gave me the "done!" message. Well now how the hell do I set the dip switches and see if the damn thing worked. OH by the way, my girlfriend decided to screw with my computer while me and my friend went to get a drink (the bios was supposedly done flashing bank 3) when my comp froze and she re-booted the system. Now when I put the usb cable connected to the mod into any of my usb devices my mouse and keyboard go off and don't function until I remove the cable from the system. So now I can't re-flash the chip and I have no idea how to get the bios that flashed right (if it did). I'm running win2000 professional and any and all help would be appraited! thank you all

tried all my usbs....but I got the program to work on another computer....I did a 1mb bios instead (fused x2 4977 darkerblue together) and flashed both bios 1 and bios 2 but I still get nothing. I'm begining to think it didn;t install right which is wierd cuz the chip keeps getting the green led on the dip switch board. I used the pogopin install. Could that be my problem? thank you for the diagram.

hmmm thats wierd i used the pogo pin install and it worked first time. Did you veryfy the flash was correct? if it is correct and your getting the green light it should work.
There is a slim chance that the chip might be duff, only other thing to try is the xbox-scene forums for the x-bit chip maybe someone there could help you better as ive only installed 1 of these chips myself.

I once had an xbit that froze while it was connected via usb. I had no option but to disconnect the usb cable but then the software wouldn't connect to the chip anymore.
If it won't connect to the xbit anymore it's stuffed unfortunatly

well I completely re-flashed the chip using my mom's computer so now I know it's flashed right....stupid pogo pins...I was really trying to avoid finding my soldering iron but now I got no choice. and yeah the xbox is turned off when I go to flash the chip. Anyway I did get it re-flashed but it still won't load. I'm assuming it's due to not aligning correctly or some lubricant or something is blocking the connection and I need to use lighter fliud so I'm just gonna solder the damn thing. Solder still remains the best way to install a mod chip.

I beg to differ, I don't think soldering is the best way to install a mod-chip. Solderless chips work great when installed properly.

Although solderless chips can work great soldering is indeed better. Especially if you know what your doing. Tyler!

it's all to do with the aligning of the Chip.
Look on the dms3 website for pictures of where the 'g-spot' is on your motherboard. Using a fine knife lightly scratch it and you will notice it shine. When it gets to this stage try aligning the chip again. It's all trial and error. Can be tricky. If you're having serious problems then post the gear to me along with a fiver and i'l do it for ya
