Yes i'm an idiot, but.......

Ok. i've spent the last two days researching DC back-ups. i am a complete newbie, it seems that i've done so much i have gotten myself confused, what is the best way to back-up? the dc to pc cable and then rip, or the download method with the rare files, or are they one in the same. Thanx Lord Jester for reposting the info it will be helpful when i find something to download. I guess this is it for now.

depending on your internet connection

if you have a fast one then get it all off the web, it takes me about 1.5 hours max to download a 700+mb file from the web,
if you are on a slow connection or just get run arounds on the websites then ripping is a good alternative but you will be ripping for a minimum of 15 hours, all depends on the game,
