Backed up games don't work.

Evening all,

I'm hoping you can all help me. I recently had my PS2 chipped by a pro which was tested and works fine.

I've tried backing up my PS2 games using Nero 6 and my Nec 2500a dvd burer. The games appears to copy ok and you can see the data on the pc but the playstaion doesn't play them. I'm getting the red screen that says "please insert a playstation or playstation 2 format disc"

I've tried using the followind DVDr's:

Mirror platinum DVD+R (light purple)
Mirror platinum Pro DVD-R (dark purple)
TDK DVD-R. (light purple)

Could you please give me some brief instructions on how to back up my PS2 games using Nero 6 because i'm not sure i'm doing it correctly. I've tried using the "disc copy" option and have also tried copying the data to the hard drive then on to DVDR.

I'm sure i must be doing something wrong because the PS2 was tested in the workshop with a backed up game after the chip was installed.

You help and advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks again,
Rob.

use recordnow it's the best program for dvd baced games. Nero has problems doing games, but it is the best program for dvd movies. Also or did you try cleaning the lazer on the ps2 as recorded meda is harder to read on a ps2

You should get no problems using Nero 6 for backing up, As long as you read an image to hardrive first and leave your pc idle when burning back to dvd-r.

For a sure fire 100% sucess rate every time use RecordNowDX and traxdata/Ritek dvd-r.

Regards

I've just bought some Verbatim DVD-R's because i'm not convinced that my current discs are good enough. Has anyone had any experience of Verbatim DVD-R's.?

Thanks again,

Hey guys, i'm getting desperate now,

I've tried using recordnow max and nero 6 with verbatim dvd-r's.

It copies the data with no problems but the PS2 doesn't recognise it and i get the famous red screen.

I did see a backed up PS2 game tested on the PS2 when the chip was installed so it muse be something i'm doing wrong.

I would really appreciate some help here because it's getting a little expensive.

Does anyone have step by step instructions using Nero 6 or Record Now.

Thanks again,
Rob.

you'll find recordnow max toturial in ULTIMATE INFO STICKY -> Factoids: Backup Procedures
I saw several people have problem with this burner, you can test one of those backup disks with dvdinfo pro for read errors and see how many red blocks you'll get.

Are you sure you tested a DVD±R game when he installed the modchip?
Maybe it was CD game.

Also are you sure how your mod chip works? Maybe you have to enter in a "DVD-r mode" or something.

What kind of chip do you have?

Morning all,

Thanks for your replies,

I don't know what mod chip it is, i took my Ps2 to a local computer fair and a chip was installed/tested.

I've just run the dvdinfopro software on my copied disks and most have them have found no errors on the disk. All the blocks were green. :-)

Is there something i need to do to boot a backed up game in my PS2.? I've only been putting the disk in and turning it on. I've also tried opening the drive and turning the PS2 on/off.

I'm going to contact the chip supplier today and find out what chip they used.

Thanks for all of your help again,
Rob.

Thanks for that sawdust, i've just ordered some datasafe that have the ritek G04 dye. Has anyone used datasafe's dvd-r's before.?

I was told that the verbatim dvd-r's are one of the best around. They cost me £12 for 5. :-(

Not all verbatim are Ritek dye based!!!!!!!! I'm getting fed up of warning people about this!!!!!!

Use RITEK DYE based dvd-r if u want your ps2 laser to last a reasonable amount of time. Datasafe Ritek G04 should be fine. Verbatim are a generally good all purpose dvd but that doesn't mean that the ps2 will like all of them. I certainly wouldn't use light write surface verbatim in my ps2 even if it did read them as it would be puttin a lot of strain on the ps2 laser.

When your ritek dye based dvd-r turn up use Stomp or Sonic Record Now DX to create an image of the original dvd and then burn it back to dvd-r. U should have no problems from there. If this doesn't work correctly then there is something wrong with your ps2 or burner

Regards
