Thanks dude,
I have seen teh small screws just on top of the CD holder. When i unscrew them, the plasctic casing that holds the CD loader, refuses to nudge out. I don't dare put any more pressure as i fear i might break something. Anyway, when you say i can use a CD/DVD lends cleaner, which is a good one to buy. I have a normal CD lens cleaner which is supposed to play some music, but when inserted into PS2, i don't hear any music. But when the same lens cleaner is inserted into a Car MP3 players, it's all fine. Please tell em which is a good one to buy and from where. Thanks...

I got a question about a PS2 laser cleaner i have...is it safe?
May sound dumb because it is especially for PSX/PS2 as it has PSX boot data, and surely they have gone through testing and stuff. But i have 2 PS2's a V3 and A V10 i do the V3 manually and when i tried the Cleaning disc in the V3 it made horible clicking noises (which is presumably when the brush hits the laser) but isn't this causing more strain on the laser with it getting twocked by the brush? By the way its a Blaze Laser Cleaner. |

It's safe - sometimes cleaning discs do that

Cleaning discs are garbage. Take the PS2 apart and clean it right or take it to someone who can.

I disagree, they are useful for keeping on top of the problem. If your laser is caked in dust, it's a better idea to disassemble, but if my console or DVD player etc... have problems reading, cleaning discs have always sorted the problem...

If people would use a laser cleaner ever so often it would never get to the point of being caked up

There is one thing though, i have a v3 PS2 and never used a laser cleaner on it, and that has been good ever since release date until now, so i clean it manually and only ever needed a manual clean once...not bad goin eh?
But i have had a problem with my v10 PS2 w/ Matrix Infinity v1.2...I had the modchip fitted from store, so i has been sealed with warranty void stickers, but it isn't at the point of being cleaned manually. But when i try to use the PS1/PS2 Laser cleaner by Blaze which is specifically for PlayStation 1 and 2, i have to force it into PS1 or DVD mode (press Circle). It gets to the screen and then gets all pixaleted and won't clean, this doesn't happen on my unmodded v3 ps2, so could it be a modchip problem? I do have my concerns that it was fitted as good as i would have done it, as when i got the PS2 i noticed a ticking noise, which in fact was a wire getting in the way of the fan at the back...so i have my doubts about the neatness. It was from whitedog.co.uk |
