is there a way to open the dvd rom so i can clean the laser lens?

Just get a hammer put your foot on top of your drive. Gently stick the nail-pulling side of your hammer in the little sticking out part of the tray and use the new leverage you have to rip the tray out. Then continue using the hammer till you actually see the laser. Carefully clean with a q-tip and rubbing alchohol.

~WoMeNlOvEr ... so far ive moddded xboxes with: 2 Matrixes 3 Xbits My xbox!: -250 gig -XBIT -4981.06 x2 -orange led for light, matching beautifully with the orange x in the splash screen -Component cable my problem...solved?!: -one of my friends says he can get about 450 files off it!... and now i havent seen him for about 4 months..and ive written him like 11 emails.. Take out the dvd-rom. The top has 2 screws on it in the middle left/right. Take those out, and you can remove the top shield of the drive.
