I haven't updated firmware yet. I have read in a few places that updating firmware might solve some problems.

Can someone tell me what firmware is and what is the latest version? My girlfirend says it has somethign do with the bios but she's not sure. Is it necessary to update firmware or can I just leave it as be after I format everything?
