Burning Xbox Games...

I was able to make copys of Dvds and play them in every dvd player in my house even my xbox with this software but I tried burning a backup copy of one of my games when I bring it over to a friends house so it wont get scratched and it didn't work. Why is that? They say you need a mod chip but I was successfully able to make backup copys of my dvd's and they played on my xbox just fine. Why not a backup copy of my xbox game? A reply would be greatly appreciated.

dvd movies can be backuped and played in any dvd player (even xbox/ps2) x-box/ps2 games have a code which cannot be copied onto a disk so that is what the mod is used for to tell the xbox/ps2 that the disk is legit when it really isn't! all thoes ads about no need for a modchip are bullsh*t!

because the drive is not made to read cdr's. It can read retail stamped music cd's but cdr's is a no go. Unless your very lucky.

xbox has three types of dvdrom...
thompson can read all dvd+/-r, dvd-rw, cd-rw.
philips can read dvd+/-r, dvd-rw, cdrw and some cdr.
samsung can read dvd-r, dvd-rw, cd, cdrw, and some dvd+r...
if your going to backup xbox games use cdr-r, that way they'll play on all xbox.

I think what he did was a straight disc copy of an xbox disc, which won't work, he said he made a backup just like his dvd or music or whatever... you need to do some reading mate but to put it in a nut shell, retail xbox discs can only be read by an xbox, xbox uses fatx not fat32 or ntfs etc... so in order to make a backup you need a modded box, why you ask, so you can ftp (use flashfxp) the contents of the disc from the xbox hd or the xbox dvdr to your pc hd, there you use something like craxtion to create and patch the file to an ISO, then you use something like nero6 or alcohol120% to burn the image (ISO) to a dvd-r (-r because all xbox's read -r, only thompson drives read +r), or if the game comes in under 700mb u can burn to a cdrw...

If making a backup of an xbox game was as simple as a disc copy where would all the fun be.....
